Can you make money with an MLM Network Marketing Opportunity? The first thing I have to say about that is, yes but it isn’t easy.  Anybody that tells you any different is blowing smoke up your you know what! You can quickly become disillusioned and end up saying the heck with it. Or as I heard a quote, “I am about to commit network marketing suicide;” in other words, to be fed up and done with the whole industry all together. This is why it is important to understand yourself enough to know what you want and to be able to find out what fits you. Take the time and research the company you are in or thinking of joining carefully before committing. In the mean time it gives more time to further your education if the network marketing industry is appealing to you.

Let me first touch on the network marketing opportunity. If the company you might be looking at is new or “on the ground floor” it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best thing to get into. I would look at whether or not the product has the same thing going for it as 20 other network marketing companies have. Or maybe it has competition outside the MLM industry that has almost the same product but for less money. Some of these opportunities have too high of prices for their MLM businesses and make it hard for a small business owner to make a profit from the sales of products, especially someone just starting out.

Some MLM opportunities may have been around for a long time witch can be good or bad. Do some research on the MLM network marketing opportunity you are looking at. Check the reputation of not only the company but the products as well. When you make your initial investment you should know what you are getting into and not just be driven by emotion. Knowing your investment is very important and that investment should have real value attached to it.

Ok, the next obstacle, marketing and developing your marketing skills. This is going to depend on your skills and what interests you. Getting people to buy your products and your opportunity is obviously the biggest challenge. There are many ways to market yourself online and offline; do not rule either one out. Most of us do not have the money to spend on pay per click and other advertising methods that cost big bucks. A person who needs a more affordable way to their marketing and advertising may find that using the free and affordable alternatives offered by the Internet are the way to go.

There are many different methods to marketing online; if you are unfamiliar with any of them I will list a few. There are things like social networking; for example, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. I will say there are certain methods in doing this properly, but with the proper training you can make great connections with any one of these outlets. There are also methods like blogging, article and video marketing, just to name a few. One way or the other you need to get out there and make yourself known and provide value to others.

Once you start to develop leads and start recruiting people into your MLM opportunity you need to spend time with them. This will help you to create a solid foundation of qualified people. When people feel they have support and that their up-line is concerned about their success and growth, they will stay motivated and continue moving forward.

Personal education is a necessity when becoming a leader. You gain knowledge and are able to pass that on. This brings value for your downline and prospects. Part of maintaining momentum requires an investment of time in helping your team to achieve success and grow themselves as leaders.

There is a cost of time and money when getting involved in any MLM network marketing opportunity. It is not completely free; there is an investment with time and money. Early on and through out your endeavor you will need to educate yourself so you can provide value to your team and downline.

An MLM can provide you with the kind of wealth that you want but you need to understand that your success depends on you. It depends on your skill level and the time and effort you invest. When I first started in mlm it didn’t take me long to figure out I was not going to build an MLM downline using conventional methods. I  never intended on bugging my friends and family about my opportunity right from the start. I knew the little ol’ list of friends and family was a waste of my time. I had a bigger vision than that anyway. First off, the internet was the natural choice in marketing. Number two I was on a very tight budget. I know it’s a mouthful and it is a lot of work, but I had more time than money. The cool thing is all the bouncing around I did with different methods ended up being the stepping stones to success! After that I knew I had to learn all the techniques of getting my website ranked so that people could see me. So, nothing else mattered after that. I began the process of learning the principles and methods of driving traffic to my blog. I am a firm believer in finding what method of marketing suits you and laser focus on it and go after it with everything you got!

So enough about me. More about what practical steps you can take to succeed in your mlm downline building. The first step is to get a blog setup for yourself. It doesn’t matter if you use social marketing methods like facebook, twitter, ect. You still should to have a place that you can send people to see what you have to offer them. There are different types of blogs including free ones. I personally like WordPress Blogs the paid and hosted kind not the free versions. The reason being is that it is yours and you have complete control over it.

After getting a blog set up the next step is driving traffic to it. There are principles that drive traffic to site that first need to be understood. I will quickly list them: relevancy, popularity, original content and social media outlets. Then there are methods that drive the traffic your way. There is Article marketing, video marketing, social media, social bookmarking, press releases, and even offline strategies. Pretty much wherever you can get links back to your blog.

I can’t tell you how important it is in the MLM business to bring value to people. Writing article is a wonderful and probably one the most effective way of building a MLM downline on the web. You can distribute your articles with relatively inexpensive tools and are used to rank your blog or your youtube videos higher up in the search engines. There are also tools that submit your videos and articles to various places and also help rank your blog so more people can see it. Blogging may not be for you. However, it can be a great way to bring people into your mlm downline.

Really there is way too much information to go threw to explain each one of these concepts in an article. I just wanted to give a good foundation for you to understand what is available to you online and maybe provide you with a good place to start. It seems overwhelming at first but once you understand the principles and methods that can drive traffic it will become natural to you. In the end you will build a massive mlm downline.

Let me first begin by saying Shaklee is a fantastic MLM opportunity for the right person if you want to be able to leverage yourself and achieve financial freedom, as is with most any MLM. I have been around Shaklee most of my life and my Mom and brother are distributors in Shaklee. My Mom has sold Shaklee Products and has been involved for almost three decades now. So I can tell you that it is a solid company, with wonderful products, has a great compensation plan and has defiantly stood the test of time.

However, if you want to be successful in your Shaklee venture, you have to have more than a fantastic product.  You must have a good system that you can make work for you . With the main objective of getting more reps and sell more product or you’re going nowhere. A lot of those that get signed up in Shaklee and don’t succeed at all because they try and build their Shaklee business in such a fashion that doesn’t suit them at all. If you want to succeed in Shaklee you’re going to have to bring in a lot of new sign-ups, and traditional methods that your up-line might be teaching you possibly is not the right way for you. Here are some ways to help you get more sign-ups fast!

First, ask yourself what you’re best at. Are you skilled at talking in front of people? Are you talented at talking to people on the phone? Are you creative? Are you good on a computer? You’re primary personal skill set should determine your business building methods. Creative people tend to be better at building through advertising campaigns, where people who have huge spheres of influence tend to be better at doing local events.

Second, Focus on one building method at a time only. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen trying to build a network marketing business and they jump from one method to another before they ever get any good at one thing. Third, Focus your energy on recruiting distributors and selling product. I have been around multilevel marketing for the better part of  my life.  My parents are in the multilevel marketing business.  They built quite a successful business and it was all done by building relationships first and then selling the product.  In today’s world it is a little more difficult to do MLM the old style way.  The old style way is great and has its uses but with the global internet community there is so much more opportunity to succeed.

The first thing to do is get into the right state of mind.  Stop thinking about making a lot of money fast; none of that thinking about getting just two more in your down line etc.  Remember you want to build long and lasting relationships.  You can achieve this  by helping others reach their goals. You will want to learn for yourself all the significant tools and materials out there about your business and about what software is out there to help your mlm reach its full potential.  Use your own situation as a coaching tool.  Describe your struggles and what you had to do to overcome them.  Be assertive, free and open with your guidance.

Second, while the time spent away from home prospecting and trying to generate leads are going to be a thing of the past you still need to remember that this will still be be work. You can’t take the “people” aspect out of an of an MLM business. You will need to spend time getting in contact with and talking to your leads over the internet, through e-mail and/or on the telephone.  You will need to work generating leads with however you have decided to market yourself online.  You pick your pace and you pick your style and be confident in what you do. Foucus and hone in on what ever method you choose. What’s so great about bringing your mlm online is you will learn how to connect with people and build lasting relationships; the foundation of your business. And it just plan fun!

Third learn how to use the Internet.  There are automated systems out there that can help you dominate the web and funnel more leads than you thought possible into your business.  Use the internet to connect with people with sites such as linked in, facebook, my space and twitter and other social networks. Setup a blog and start writing about your business. Something that is even more powerful is be sure to tell personal stories. Write articles and post them to all relevant article directories and other sources. There are tools to make this quick and easy. You can triumph in what ever your mlm opportunity your in.  You can help others to succeed.  You can educate yourself.  You can be yourself and build relationships that will take you to the next level.  Change your mind set, use the internet, educate yourself and be prepared to work hard.  Once you set up your funnel you can spend more time connecting with new leads, building a business and spending time with your family.
